It’s not only an adjective

Aching feet, headache, logging out late, 5 hours of sleep. A common scenario expected after a busy day of recruitment.  This was just a result of coming to work on time, assisting applicants, announcing total number of passers, and helping in handing out lunch to applicants, interviewers and co-creative members.

I considered myself as a "normal" agent before. A person who will come in to work on a scheduled time, take in calls, takes her breaks and lunch and punches out to Kronos at the end of the shift. That was my life 2 1/2 years ago. Then suddenly my life changed because of a decision.

After VMA bid goodbye to Sitel, everything was a roller-coaster ride for me. My colleagues and I were asked to report to ETON, without knowing what our task was for that day while waiting for a training schedule. It left me with no excitement. One day, I asked myself: "What now?" "Did I gain something?" "Am I productive?”   -- that time I desired some change for myself. I felt my life was mediocre and I wanted to do something different. Good thing my prayers were answered by VA Creative.

They needed dedicated volunteers who will assist in the recruitment process. At first I thought that our task is limited only to recruit new hires but I was wrong. Our leadership skills were tested by creating programs, planning activities for the upcoming months and creating a project proposal for any ideas that we came up.  It’s not only executing or helping out in VA projects but we are given the privilege to voice out our ideas and get constructive criticisms if there are challenges. It’s really more that what I've expected.

For me, it was like a journey back in time. I missed my student council days wherein we are asked to create and implement school activities. This time it’s a little bit different. We don't focus on solicitations, we make sure that the program will be feasible and all of the agents will participate to the events listed.

It’s not only work with VA Creative. We always make sure that we will have fun as well. We usually do "pinoy henyo" and ice breakers during free time. Some of us will also bring in food to share during meetings and brainstorming.

Being with VA Creative is neither easy nor hard.  It’s a matter of bringing out the natural leader in us. We all have the ability to be dedicated in our chosen jobs and for me, deciding to be in this team helped me bring back the things I've learned in my college years and from my past experiences and to learn new ones.

It's indeed more than sore feet, headache, 5 hours sleep etc. It’s a team where people are united with compassion, competence and commitment to work beyond boundaries. A place where feasible imaginations are accepted, leadership and critical thinking will be tested, and dedication is the main ingredient. A team whose members spell WORK as FUN.

kahapon... ngayon... bukas... ano na?

Limang buwan...
